LVK was writing this book for a long time, starting in the war time when he was in Yaroslavl as a professor of a military higher school, and until its publication at 1959, the time of Khrushchev's ottepel'. The book was published by Academy of Science in 3000 copies, and immediatedly they arranged an additional printing in 6000 extra copies. The book was translated to Spanish (1968), French (1963), Romanian(1966), English (1965), Serbian (1985), Japan (1965), Polish (1961). |
