The library is a department of Scientific Library in the name of Maksim Gor'ky. It serves the students, lecturers, professors and researchers of St. Petersburg University. Apart of main reading-room and abonents' department, the library has the following subdivisions:
the Library of Astronomical observatory,
the Library of Programmers (in the Computing Center),
the Library of Laboratory of Materials' Durability.
